BIODIVERSITY WALK

The Biodiversity walk is a 1-Day outdoor excursion where students will enjoy an adventurous dayhike activity while fully immersing themselves in nature. A slow-paced, relaxed hike on an easy trail with lots of enjoyable and fun stuff to learn about the local & exotic wildlife of the Philippines. During the entire day we will be identifying different types of plants and animals that we will encounter along the trail. Learn about their characteristics, habitat and their important role to our ecosystem.

This is a kid-friendly program with lots of fun group activities. Students/participants shall be required to bring their own meals (packed lunch, trail snack, & hydration). At noontime we will stay at a designated campsite where we will be having our meals and lunch break right in the middle of the wilderness.

Upon finishing this program you will learn the following:

  • Understanding the importance of Biodiversity
  • Identify different types of plants & animals
  • Hiking & Outdoors safety
  • Outdoors responsibility & preparedness
  • Outdoor manners
  • Preservation and conservation of our native wildlife

Class duration: 7-9 Hours

Prerequisite: NONE

Class location

Location will vary depending on which part of Cebu S.O.S.C. has chosen. Students/participants shall be required to bring their own hiking gear, pack/prepare their own food, and hydration needs. A water-source will be available at camp (natural spring). At times you will be crossing streams and each participants are required to wear shoes/boots at all times when moving.

Venue shall be indicated on the tickets provided for this event depending on what season the schedule has occurred.

What Gear do I need to bring?

Clothing: We suggest that you come dressed to spend a day outdoors where weather can change. The weather in the country is quite unpredictable so even if it is sunny, include rain gears in your pack.

Food & Hydration: You will need to bring your own food good for four (2) meals, must be ready-to-eat meals. You will also be required to bring at least 1-2Liters of drinking water and water filtration system if you are not comfortable drinking straight from a natural spring.

Illumination & power: Flashlights/headlamps with spare batteries. Powerbanks for your phones and other gadgets

Training equipement: Paracord at least 7 meters in length, and something to write notes on.

IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit)

Age Requirements?
This class is appropriate for ages 7+. Minors must be accompanied by a participating guardian or parent.
