The “Great Outdoors” is not always fun and games. Just because you don’t see it posted on social media doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Accidents can happen anywhere, anytime at any given situation.
There’s too many factors in the wild that can pose threat or danger to a person and sometimes it can even cost someone’s life if left untreated/unattended for long periods of time. Lack of preparation is still by far the most leading cause of life-threatening scenarios in the outdoors, followed by environmental factors like hypothermia/hyperthermia, and at times people do get injured or bleed to death and left untreated in areas far from definitive care or first aid.
Nevertheless it has been proven many times in the past that having to learn survival and wilderness medical skills as part of your outdoor preparedness and skill-set is indeed a huge advantage for a group even more so for the loner types who likes to venture the great wilderness very often.
It was once said that “Knowledge weighs nothing but the lack of preparation for the unexpected can weigh more than some can carry.”
